Veer Pahariya became an internet sensation post his debut film Sky Force. He became part of meme culture on social media for his circle dance step in the film. Now, the actor is gearing up for his second film, titled Prem Keetanu. The film will be his real test of box-office pull, as his debut film also starred Akshay Kumar in the lead role. However, the upcoming film is riding on his back and is a remake of the blockbuster Malayalam film Premalu.
The makers of the upcoming rom-com dropped the trailer. And yes, if you were wondering whether the film is a remake of the popular 2024 Malayalam film, you are right! The film is also made in association with Bhavana Studios, which originally backed Premalu. The Malayalam film did wonders for the team, especially its leads Naslen and Mamitha Baiju. So, can Veer Pahariya be the face of this film?
Well, to begin with, if you have seen the original film, you will realize from the trailer that it’s an exact remake of the film, not an inspiration, but just a scene-by-scene remake. We see Veer Pahariya as a gullible, in-love person during his college days. However, we see his life after college, where he falls head over heels in love with a woman (Aafiya Sayed) working in a corporate job. However, his biggest obstacle is her co-worker, who is supposedly charming and also trying his hand at wooing the girl.

Veer Pahariya is recreating Naslen’s role, while newcomer Aafiya Sayed plays Mamitha Baiju’s role in the original. Premalu was set in Hyderabad, while Prem Keetanu was set in Delhi-Gurgaon. It would be interesting to see how the makers have taken the city into play, where the story is set. In the original, the city also seems like a character, with a group of Malayalis living in a land strange to them.
The film has decent music by composer Rahul Mishra. The film also has a good supporting cast, including Aparshakti Khurrana, Rakesh Bedi, and Nikhil Vijay. The film’s narrative is a promising take on friendship and love, with abundant humor.
However, Prem Keetanu is the second Malayalam film remake releasing in theaters in less than a month. Recently, Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan’s Haiwaan was released in theaters and has been performing slowly at the box office. Additionally, Veer Pahariya’s film will be clashing with Ajay Devgn’s much-awaited film Drishyam 3.

Prem Keetanu will be released in theaters on October 2.
