Director Zach Cregger’s adaptation of Resident Evil has made an impressive start at the Indian box office. The film also had a strong opening weekend at the box office. It is also the franchise’s biggest opening-weekend grosser in India. Hollywood is having a great year in India, and Resident Evil has joined the list.
How Much Did Resident Evil Earn In 4 Days In India?
The horror drama had a strong opening of 2.6 crore net in India. It opened to 4,314 shows in India with an occupancy rate of 15%. The film saw growth over the opening weekend, bringing in a total of 9.5 crore. It also earned the franchise’s biggest opening weekend gross. The film’s net total stands at 10.75 crore after 4 days.

Fails Monday Test
Despite a strong weekend, Resident Evil saw a drop of over 50% from its opening day collection. On its first Monday, the film earned 1.25 crore, a 51.92% drop from its opening-day collection. Meanwhile, the film saw a 64% drop from its Sunday collection. If the Monday drop exceeds 40%, it indicates the film has failed the Monday test.
On Day 4, the English version contributed Rs 70 lakh, while the Hindi version earned Rs 35 lakh. Tamil and Telugu added Rs 10 lakh each.
Resident Evil North America Box Office
On its opening day, Resident Evil debuted at #1 with a record collection of $26.3 million. The R-rated game adaptation’s opening-day collection also includes Thursday previews. Even though the film saw a decline in collection on Days 2 and 3, it managed to soar past $60 million on its debut weekend.
The 2026 film has beaten the lifetime domestic collection of all other franchise films. It has beaten the record of Afterlife, which had earned $60.12 million during its lifetime run at the USA box office.

Directed by Zach Cregger, the film brings back age-old horror. The movie follows the protagonist, Austin Abrams, who plays Bryan. According to the synopsis, “The film follows a hapless courier tasked with delivering a package to a remote hospital. He soon finds himself caught in the middle of an outbreak and must fight through hordes of mutated creatures to survive.”
The outing also stars Paul Walter Hauser as Carl, with Zach Cherry as Dave. Joining these big names from the Hollywood film industry are Kali Reis, who will play Pauline, and Johnno Wilson, in an undisclosed role.
