Every anthology has that one segment people won’t stop talking about after the credits roll, and this season in Lust Stories 3, it is Vishal Bhardwaj’s chapter, carried entirely by the electric, borderline-combustible chemistry between Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth. While Shakun Batra’s story starring Ali Fazal and Radhika Madan has my heart, this one was a commercial winner, which left you wanting more!
Spoilers Ahead!
Before you dive into the details, I would suggest you skip this discussion if you haven’t watched the film yet! And if you have, I hope you would agree to what we are about to discuss in detail – Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth’s story, which needs an urgent spin-off!
Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, the segment featured Aditi Rao Hydari as a literature scholar from the 80s who admires bold literature! However, the hell breaks loose when she writes an intimate book, and it gets lost, only to be found by a publisher couple who lure her to write more!

The story closes not only with a resolution but also with a hint that this does not end here. Having spent the entire runtime being underestimated as a shy woman by everyone in her orbit, Aditi Rao Hydari’s character gets the last word and the last laugh as the Chulbuli Begum, who writes the spiciest erotica!
Meanwhile, her husband proudly celebrates her book and assures that it is something all husbands should read! Meanwhile, her relationship with Abbujaan is a major highlight of this film. Saira shines with an upper hand, but only with Badru by her side! Their happily ever after promises that this story has so much more to tell!
Why A Spin-Off?
Saira feels like she’s lived a whole life before the segment even starts, and the ending practically dares you to ask “okay, but then what happens?” A limited series, even four or five episodes following Saira and Badru’s marriage as a long-form adult comedy, would let Bhardwaj do what short-format can’t: sit in the mess longer, let the power dynamic swing back and forth more than once, and give Aditi Rao Hydari a full season to be as unhinged and magnetic as she is here in fast-forward!
Netflix has no shortage of spin-offs, and there’s no reason Chulbuli Begum couldn’t be India’s version of that. The ingredients are already there: a starry, committed lead pair, a director who clearly loves the material, and an ending that reads less like closure and more like a cliffhanger!
