Avengers: Endgame Encore’s pre-sales have slowed at the box office in China. It completed its 5-day pre-sales in China and is expected to cross Avatar’s re-release opening weekend from 2021. It was one of the biggest re-release debuts for Hollywood movies at the box office in China. Avengers: Endgame Encore crosses $2 million in pre-sales in China

According to box office analyst Luiz Fernando, Avengers: Endgame Encore ends its 5-day of pre-sales with $2.2 million on Tuesday for the September 24-27 period. It is more than The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘s $200k, Aquaman 2’s $518k, and Deadpool & Wolverine‘s $1.5 million 5-day pre-sales cumes. There are still two more days left.

Although pre-sales are currently available for only 49k screenings, the MCU movie’s booking pace has slowed. With sales heavily concentrated on Thursday previews and Friday, Avengers: Endgame Encore could see an unusually front-loaded opening, making a record-breaking re-release debut increasingly unlikely.

Opening weekend projection

According to the report, Avengers: Endgame Encore is still tracking to open above $20 million at the box office in China. If it manages to cross $21 million, it might also surpass Avatar’s $21.2 million re-release opening-weekend debut. If it beats Avatar’s reissue debut in China, then it will be the biggest one in the region. But one thing is certain: the MCU blockbuster will record one of the biggest debuts for any comic book movie post-COVID.

For the unversed, Avengers: Endgame Encore grossed an estimated $632.1 million at the box office in China, making it the second-highest-grossing Hollywood film of all time. It will be re-released worldwide on September 25.
