Toxic, starring Yash in the lead role, is a disaster of epic proportions worldwide. While it has incurred huge losses domestically, the overseas picture isn’t good either. Particularly speaking about the North American box office (USA and Canada), the film saw underwhelming momentum right from the pre-sales stage, but there was hope it would pick up. Started its run with underwhelming collections

Since Yash was making his return after the historic success of KGF Chapter 2, expectations were sky high for his period gangster action thriller. However, ineffective promotional assets and multiple delays negatively impacted the buzz. As a result, it could fetch just $886K (8.49 crore) in the territory on the opening day, including $600K (5.75 crore) from premiere shows. Afterward, it crashed like anything and wrapped up below the $1.8 million mark.

How much did Toxic earn at the North American box office?

After an underwhelming start, Toxic suffered from negative word-of-mouth, which completely restricted its run. As per the final collection update, it scored $1.71 million, which equals 16.38 crore in Indian rupees. Of this, the USA contributed the biggest chunk with $1.14 million (10.92 crore), while Canada contributed $570K (5.46 crore).

Breaking down collections language-wise, the Hindi version contributed the biggest chunk of $701K (6.72 crore), followed by Telugu’s $580K (5.56 crore). In Kannada, it earned $380K (3.64 crore). Tamil contributed $33K (31 lakh), while the English version scored $14.5K (13.89 lakh). In the Malayalam version, it earned a dismal $1.5K (1.44 lakh).

For those who don’t know, Toxic had a breakeven target of $6.5 million (62.28 crore) at the North American box office. In reality, it could earn only $1.71 million, thus covering 26.31% of the target collection. It wrapped up its run with a massive deficit of $4.79 million (45.9 crore) or 73.69%, thus emerging as a big shocker for Yash and the entire team. For buyers, it has turned into a nightmare.
