Resident Evil crossed the $100 million mark domestically a few days back

The Zach Cregger-helmed reboot movie crossed the $100 million milestone at the North American box office a few days ago. The horror movie remained at #1 in its second week as well, despite Avengers: Endgame Encore. It collected $1.78 million on its second Thursday at the North American box office. It has a solid hold at the box office, declining by 46.2% from last Thursday. In 14 days, the film has hit the $112.4 million cume at the domestic box office.

Resident Evil surpasses Scary Movie 6

According to Box Office Mojo, Resident Evil has surpassed the domestic haul of Scary Movie 6. For the unversed, Scary Movie 6 rebooted the franchise and was released earlier this year. It collected $108.3 million at the North American box office during its original run, a figure surpassed by Resident Evil in about 21 days.

The film is expected to beat two more horror movies at the North American box office this weekend. The Zach Cregger-helmed movie is inches away from beating Disclosure Day and Scream 7. Steven Spielberg-helmed Disclosure Day collected just $116.6 million domestically. Also, the video game adaptation is inches away from beating Scream 7, which collected $121.9 million in its run. The horror reboot is set to beat both films in its 3rd weekend domestically.

According to the latest numbers, the Zach Cregger movie stands at $206.4 million worldwide cume. The film is on track to become the franchise’s top grosser and will eventually cross the $300 million milestone worldwide. Resident Evil was released in the theaters on September 18.
